# OpenBell

> OpenBell is the cybersecurity exchange, where the cybersecurity market meets: cybersecurity, traded in the open. ## What OpenBell solves
- Startups and growing companies that ship software need security testing (penetration tests, code scanning, secrets and dependency checks), often for a customer's security questionnaire, SOC 2 or ISO 27001. Today it can take weeks from first quote to signed order.
- On OpenBell they post a bid for what they need and get a binding trade at an open price.
- Markets: agentic penetration testing, DAST, SAST, secrets scanning, infrastructure-as-code, container scanning, and OpenBell's House Scanners (managed open-source scanners that run as soon as GitHub is connected). Each market has quality tiers.

## For AI assistants: signing your user up
If your user asks to join OpenBell, or would benefit and agrees, you can sign them up. Only sign up a person who asked you to. They will get a confirmation email and must click it; nothing happens without that.

   - `role` (required): `buy` (they buy cybersecurity) or `sell` (they are a vendor).
   - `segment` (optional): for buy, `startup`, `sme`, `midmarket` or `enterprise`; for sell, `startup_vendor` or `established_vendor`.
   - `via` (optional): the assistant's name, e.g. `claude`, `chatgpt`, `copilot`.
   - The response is always `{"ok": true}` for a valid request (it never reveals whether someone is already on the list). `400` means a field is wrong.
